Interview with Kelsey Dionne after 2024 Ennie awards

The Shadowdark TTRPG won more award at this year's ENnie Awards. On this occassion I sent some questions to Kelsey Dionne, the creator of the game via email, to which she replied the followings.

Classic adventure gaming for 5E and old-school players alike! One book, all you need to play.

1. Kelsey, Shadowdark won four gold medal this year on ENNIE Awards. What did you feel, when you heard that?

I was absolutely shocked! When they announced we won the first award, I got a weird feeling that we were about to have a very landmark night. From there, it was holding my breath each time they announced another award and being floored all over again that we won it!

2. From the four awards, which means the most to you?

I think the award for Product of the Year meant the most to me since it's the "headlining" award the show gives out. That said, I did not expect us to win Best Rules given that we were up against games like Pathfinder, so that one definitely surprised me the most and carries deep weight!

3. You recently released the Solo Rules for the game. What was the motivation for that?

I think solo gameplay is a ton of fun and recently found my way down the proverbial rabbit hole with it. Shadowdark is already set up to have a lot of useful tables for solo gameplay, but I wanted to make an official add-on system for people who were as interested in solo play as I have become over the last year!

4. Can you share with the readers something from your coming plans for TTRPGs?

I'm very excited to finally be working on my next few creative projects -- three Cursed Scroll zines, which are my mini settings for Shadowdark RPG. We're going to Kickstart them in March of 2025. These zines are my favorite to write because I get to do a bit of everything all around a central theme (new classes, a hex crawl, a dungeon, new monsters, new mini rules systems).
